LIVES First Responders are community based volunteers trained and equipped to provide emergency care to patients suffering:
* Cardiac arrest
* Breathing difficulty and choking
* Collapse
* Chest pain

It is a proven fact that First Responders do improve survival from pre-hospital cardiac arrest by the provision of Basic Life Support and Defibrillation.

The Chapel and Hogsthorpe group went 'live' on April 1st 2001 with 25 volunteers and provided emergency cover 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Since then the group has answered nearly 500 calls.

The group is financially sound thanks to generous local support from Pubs, Clubs, Businesses and individual donations. Our main financial sponsor John Toyne, J.T's Social Club, Chapel St Leonards, and his customers have provided the group with its own car and each Responder with two customised polo shirts, a fleece and reflective jacket.

Throughout Lincolnshire there are now over 90 First Responder Groups.

Sadly, the size of the Chapel/Hogsthorpe group has now diminished to 10 volunteers, and we are unable to provide the cover we used to.

We are in urgent need of 'new blood'. It is easy to be trained, no previous medical experience is necessary. You have to be over the age of 18, and you can give as much or as little time as you feel able to.
