Chapel Star GardenThe Chapel Star Garden

Collaboration between Chapel St Leonards Parish Council, the Neighbourhood Management Team and Chapel St Leonards Primary School has provided an excellent raised flower bed within the village.
Wednesday morning was a hive of activity as the children buzzed around and quickly planted the bed with the help of the Police and Parish Councillors.

The flower bed, designed in the shape of a star, takes pride of place in front of the Parish Office in the centre of the village. Rick Coates on behalf of the Neighbourhood Management Team liaised with the school for the children to come and assist with the planting and construction of the flower bed. The materials and compost were all paid for by donations from each of the eight Parish Councillors, and the bulbs and flowers came from Neighbourhood management.
Everyone agreed it was a worthy cause to help encourage the local children to have an enthusiasm for gardening as they will water and maintain the flower bed. The Chairman of Chapel Parish Council, Councillor Mr Michael Goodman commented, “How good it is to see organisations working together, it was an excellent project, and the children were providing a splash of colour to brighten up the winter months”.

Thanks go to Nicky Stevenson from Chapel Garden Centre, for providing the plants, Mr Ray Borrell and Mrs Neal from Chapel Primary School who accompanied and organised the children, Roger our village handyman for construction of the bed, and special mention to Councillor Mrs Hazel Newcombe who armed with a trusty protractor designed and made the pattern for the star.
