Chapel St Leonards village green was alive with the sound of music during the "Musical Weekend" held recently. Featuring two popular Lincolnshire bands, "3 parts cut" and "Tony Orme and his Jazz men".
"3 parts cut" kicked off the celebrations on Saturday. They arrived in style in a 1950 car driven by local woman Joanne Blair which brought gasps from the audience when it arrived on the green. The band burst from the car and into the specially erected marque which began a foot tapping afternoon listening to the hits we all know and love. The area around the bell tower was filled with local and visitors , all dancing and jiving to the beat. Glorious sun shine added to a beautiful day to complete the scene.
Sunday was the day when the ever popular "Tony Orme and his Jazz men" took to the stage . They were soon enjoying the applauds from the audience as they sang hit after hit in there own individual style for which they are known far and wide The mellow sounds drifting across the green were welcomed by the people who were sitting and enjoying the sunshine.
This event was sponsored by Chapel St Leonards Parish Council as a chance to bring the community back together after the problems of the past. It was nice to see the local people mixing with the visitors in a common theme of enjoying the music. This free event has been such a success it is hoped to make it an annual event with different styles of music to please every one. Crowds of up to five hundred people enjoyed the event and thanks go to the Saint Johns Ambulance people who were on duty.
